Keen-WA, Quinn-O-A, what is it?!

Pronounced: KEEN-WA.

On a date during Emily's season of The Bachelorette I turned red for one of the gentlemen.

He said , "Oh hey that's Quinn-O-A."

Nobody said a thing.

Did anyone else is America catch that?!

Now, this is pretty exciting to me because I am KNOWN for messing up words, making up words, using the wrong pronunciation,  spelling, or context of words.

And the worst part is that I don't even know I'm messing it up.

My family calls it my "Katiekanese" Get it "Chinese-Katiekanese"?

So for all you turds out there who know when I'm wrong and don't correct me, I'm sticking my tongue out at you!

Here's a small example.

I've been blogging since 2007. For about TWO YEARS I was saying, granite for granted.

The sad part is I REALLY thought the saying was, "Don't take things for granite."

How you ask?

No clue.

Somehow my brain ALWAYS messes up in this realm.

Apparently it was a family joke BEHIND MY BACK.

I continued to blog repeating that phrase OVER and OVER and they continued to get a kick out of it.

You turds!

One Christmas they kindly shared their many, "Katiekanese" jokes and I nearly died of embarrassment.

After counseling (not really) I embrace my silly language and laugh about it!

I excepted it and know I dont take it for granite.

Since people joke at me.

I can joke at them.

So Quinn-o-a boy, Quinoa is pronounced KEEN-WA.

I'm sorry your mistake was in front of millions and mine stays in the comfort of my blog!

Anyhoo, here's the recipe that you asked for!

1/2 cup cooked Quinoa

steamed broccoli (I buy the bags that you steam in microwave)

 onions, mushrooms, peppers

Organic garlic olive oil from Trader Joe's (YUM)

shrimp (I buy the already made with no tail frozen bags from Fresh and Easy)

sea salt

1. Cook Quinoa (I make large amounts every week so I don't cook it all the time)

2. Saute onions, mushrooms, peppers, and garlic and a little bit of olive oil.

3. Add shrimp to the sautéed veggies once veggies are almost done

4. add sea salt and pepper to your liking

5. steam broccoli (2:30 in microwave)

6. Put desired amount of everything in bowl and drizzle with garlic olive oil

7. Bon Appétit!

You just made yourself a super healthy, protein filled, GLUTEN-FREE entrée!

It makes great left-overs, too!

  1. I don't know if you did this intentionally or not (I don't think it was intentional) but ... you wrote "I excepted it and know I don't take it for granite." The correct usage is I accepted it... Accept - to take or receive, to agree
    Except - to exclude
    love you lots :)

  2. haha thanks Dad. It was VERY intentional :]
